Barry Lin

Xiangyu (Barry) Lin is an MPhil candidate in International Relations at St Hugh’s College, University of Oxford. His research focuses on international political economy, great power politics, and international organisations, with particular interest in how economic instruments such as sanctions, trade policies, and investment agreements shape global power dynamics and institutional resilience.

His academic journey included study-away semesters at NYU Stern School of Business and NYU Berlin. At NYUAD, he received the President’s Service Award in recognition of his academic excellence and community contributions.

Alongside his studies, Barry has held roles that reflect his commitment to public engagement and global dialogue. He serves as Vice President of the Oxford Computational Political Science Group and previously co-chaired the China-Gulf Forum (CGF 2024), co-hosted the UN Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY18), and participated as a youth delegate at COP28.
